On a rotary cutter dredge, the cutter basket is the point at which
production starts or stops. If the cutter basket is not effective, the dredge will not be productive.
To be effective, the cutter basket must attack, loosen and screen the deposit so that excess pumpable solids are maintained
around the basket and continuously taken into the suction inlet. If this does not happen, production suffers.
Twinkle Co rotary cutter baskets are designed and built for the purpose of sand & gravel dredge mining. As with our
other dredging products, we analyzed the need and devised unique solutions. Our baskets
are available in three basic styles; the WARTHOG screening basket, the PHALANX screening basket and the WADCUTTER
slicing basket.
The WARTHOG basket is intended for use in free-flowing deposits with little or no clay. The basket openings are sized
to match the particle clearance of the dredge pump. WARTHOG baskets loosen and screen
material with a unique design that retains oversize material on the outside of the basket where it can be
scrubbed off as the basket rotates. WARTHOG baskets cut equally well in either direction and have individual and
easily replaceable teeth.
The PHALANX basket is intended for use in mostly free-flowing deposits with clay seams. The basket openings are sized
to match the particle clearance of the dredge pump. PHALANX baskets loosen and screen
material with a unique design that retains oversize material on the outside of the basket yet will not plug when working
through a clay seam. PHALANX baskets cut equally well in either direction and have individual and
easily replaceable teeth.
The WADCUTTER basket is available in two styles, the -B and the -S. The WADCUTTER-S style is intended for use in deposits with clay
and other difficult digging conditions that require a more aggressive cutter. The unique design of the WADCUTTER-S basket
is resistant to plugging, yet retains the necessary screening capability for sand & gravel dredging.
The WADCUTTER-B style is intended for deposits with fine sands and clay with no oversize material. Both styles of WADCUTTER baskets
cut in only one direction and have individual and easily replaceable teeth.
The standard mounting method is a keyed and tapered hub using a taper of 0.75 inches per foot on diameter.
We can easily adapt the baskets to use other mounting methods such as a tapered bushing. The setup height and backring
diameter can be made to fit most cutter drives.
